Your roof shape, the headroom you have and how you want to use the space all help decide the right conversion for your home. These are the main types we build.

Rear dormer loft conversion

We extend the rear roof slope to create extra headroom and a more generous floor area. A versatile option for a bedroom with an ensuite.

Hip-to-gable loft conversion

We extend the sloping side of a hipped roof up into a vertical gable wall, opening up much more usable space. Often a good fit for semi-detached and detached homes.

Rooflight (Velux) loft conversion

Roof windows bring natural light into the loft while keeping the roof’s existing shape. A good option where there is already enough headroom.

L-shaped loft conversion

A rear dormer combined with a dormer over an existing rear extension. Where the roof allows, this can make room for extra bedrooms, a bathroom or a dressing area.

Mansard loft conversion

The rear roof is rebuilt with a steep face and a flatter top, creating a lot more usable space. Suits homes where a bigger change to the roofline is appropriate.

The team were facilitative of a two-stage planning process to maximise the amount of space we could add. The team were great on-site, and build quality was high. Very professional and courteous team, communication was great, on time and work completed on schedule even with additional work being carried out. We’re very happy with the end result, rooms more spacious than we expected (head height in particular) and all completed to a very high standard. The project did come in above our budget, but this is due to additional work we requested and some unforeseen work, all of which was explained fully by the team and options were provided before agreeing on the best way forward. What could I use my loft for?

A bedroom with an ensuite, a home office or a flexible family room are all popular choices. The best use depends on the space available and where the new staircase can go.

Which type of loft conversion suits my house?

Roof shape and headroom are the starting points. A rear dormer, hip-to-gable, L-shaped, mansard or rooflight conversion each offers something different. Call us to talk about your property and we will explain the options.

Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion?

Many loft conversions can go ahead under permitted development, but it depends on your house, the type of conversion and any local restrictions, such as conservation areas. We will check this for your home and take care of any applications that are needed.

Do you deal with building regulations?

Yes. We manage building regulations throughout the project, and when the work is finished we send you all the paperwork for your records.

Who designs my loft conversion?

Our in-house architect draws up the plans and our in-house structural engineer does the structural calculations. They work alongside the build team, so everything is coordinated from the start.
