Founder & owner

Meet Mark

Mark founded Unique Lofts Ltd in 2016. Since then, the company has completed hundreds of loft conversions across London and the surrounding areas.

With 16 years of experience in loft construction and a previous career in the City of London’s financial sector, Mark brings together practical building expertise and a professional, commercially minded approach. He is the person you speak to about your plans, and he looks after the drawings, planning and paperwork side of every project.

Under his leadership, Unique Lofts has grown year on year while keeping the values it was founded on: professional service, attention to detail and competitive pricing.

Outside work, Mark enjoys family life with his wife, their two teenage sons and their cockapoo.

What we stand for

The Values We Were Founded On

Three things have guided Unique Lofts since day one. You will see them in how we quote, how we run the site and how we hand your new room over.

Professional service

One team runs your project from the first drawings to the final paperwork. Mark handles the planning and building regulations side, and your site manager organises the deliveries, trades and timings, keeping you up to date as the work progresses.

Attention to detail

From the cladding on a dormer to bespoke wardrobes built on site to fit under the roof slope, we care about the finish. Our teams keep the site clean and tidy throughout, and are considerate to you and your neighbours.

Competitive pricing

Every quote is detailed and based on your home, so you know what is included. Where we can, we suggest ways to save money or gain space, such as alternative approaches to rooflights and windows.

How we work

One Team, From Drawings to Handover

Unique Lofts provides a complete project management service, bringing together design, structural expertise and construction to guide your loft conversion from the first plans through to completion.

In-house architect & engineer

Our architect draws up the plans and our structural engineer does the calculations, working alongside the build team.

Planning & building regs

We check what your home needs, make any application to the council and manage building regulations throughout.

Project management

A dedicated site manager organises deliveries, trades and timings, so you are not left chasing anyone.

Paperwork at handover

When the work is complete, we compile the project paperwork and send it to you for your records.

What Our Customers Say

Homeowners across North London and Hertfordshire rate us on Google and Checkatrade.

From day one, Ben and his team set the tone; punctual, professional, and genuinely respectful to our home. The site was kept clean and tidy throughout. They were organised, communicated well, and delivered the project on time in just six weeks.

Mr & Mrs W. C. Mackinnon

Mark handled all the paper processes and Ben (together with Martin) was the onsite manager organising all the deliveries and timings of other contractors. They were a pleasure to have working on site. All in all a credit to the industry.

Jeremy Ornstin, Muswell Hill

We employed them as Mark was clearly interested in our project and made suggestions which we took on board. The pricing was good and they came in on budget. The extra space is fantastic and we are delighted with the outcome.

The site was kept clean and tidy throughout, which made a huge difference to daily life, during the conversion. They were organised, communicated well, and delivered the project on time in just six weeks.
The quality of work was always of a high standard. The care and professionalism of the team really stood out during and after the conversion. We could see that they took real pride in their work.
We would highly recommend Unique lofts and the team to anyone considering a loft conversion.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Engaged Mark and his team on our loft conversion. Mark handled all the paper processes and Ben (together with Martin) was the onsite manager organising all the deliveries and timings of other contractors. They were a pleasure to have working on site. Tidying each evening and very careful as were the tradesmen on the team. All in all a credit to the industry.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used Mark and Unique Lofts for an L-shaped dormer. The team were facilitative of a two-stage planning process to maximise the amount of space we could add. The team were great on-site, and build quality was high. They suggested alternative approaches to e.g. skylights and windows to save money. We'd use UL again for future extensions.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had a loft conversion with Unique Lofts and I would highly recommend. Very professional and courteous team, communication was great, on time and work completed on schedule even with additional work being carried out. We’re very happy with the end result, rooms more spacious than we expected (head height in particular) and all completed to a very high standard. The project did come in above our budget, but this is due to additional work we requested and some unforeseen work, all of which was explained fully by the team and options were provided before agreeing on the best way forward. Overall we’re very satisfied and I would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a very positive experience with Mark and the Unique Lofts team for our loft conversion. I would highly recommend them.

Michael and Brad (our team) were friendly, dedicated and hardworking. Our neighbours, who had the skip chute cross their garden, also shared how considerate and friendly they were.

Michael kept me in the loop, followed up on my enquiries and gave some really helpful advice in moving airing cupboards and opening up the loft space for more natural light.

All in all, highly recommended.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would highly recommend Unique Lofts and was lucky to find them after another firm let us down. Our team were Ben, Martin and Connor who have been considerate, incredibly skilled and hard working. Even our neighbours commented on what nice guys they were. Ben was our main contact and kept me updated, followed up on my enquiries and turned up when they said they would. Every trades person Unique used turned up on time, cleaned up after themselves, were professional and very good at their jobs. Unique invoiced exactly as quoted and were a pleasure to work with. Thank you Unique Lofts!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ben and his team were really helpful and communicative through the whole project. They finished in the time quoted and kept us informed with updates daily and we could always get hold of them on WhatsApp too. They were courteous, respectful and did a great job. Mark was always available too and happy to answer our question. The work was completed on time, to a high standard and within the quote given to us. We are really pleased with our new loft and would highly recommend Unique Lofts.
